The Salon Owners Boardroom
I am constantly asked very meaningful questions by Salon Owners and Salon Managers regarding Salon Business Development, Salon Human Resources and Salon Marketing.
My frustration is that the questions are often difficult and time consuming to answer during a telephone conversation or email, and further, the answer to these questions generally raise more questions.
The questions I am asked are very repetitive, meaning that the majority of salon owners have the same issues based around business development, client retention, staff development, salon marketing and increasingly today online and social media marketing.
Boardroom for Salon Owners and Managers
Because salon owners lead very busy lives they seldom find the opportunity to continue to build on their own professional business development skills. This is frustrating for salon owners because they can lose touch with modern techniques and fall behind with productive business development which if left unchecked can have an adverse effect on the business.
As a Salon Business Coach and Mentor I am challenged because I can only be in one place at a time which limits the number of clients I can take on. Conversely when I hold seminars and training workshops delegates only get 1 day and more often than not need follow up or remedial training which adds to the cost.
So following a period of consultation with salon owners I have decided to introduce the Salon Owners Boardroom.
The boardroom is structured as follows.
- Morning presentation – business development subjects
- Lunch
- Boardroom business problem solving sessions
The Salon Owners Boardroom is a confidential mentoring group led by Mick Say, “the Salon CEO“, Salon Business Development Coach. Each Boardroom will consist of a maximum of 12 salon owners and managers.
Morning Training Presentation
In the morning session Mick Say will present detailed Salon Business Development topics which salon owners can implement in the salon. Mick is available through the month to answer questions and help implement strategies.
Afternoon Boardroom Session
Using a structured and well developed process each member has an opportunity to offer a salon business issue or problem for discussion which, through a structured process, will provide feedback and practical implementable suggestions for the member to action.
Because there are 12 Salon Owners in each Boardroom the questions and issues raised are meaningful and Specific to salon business development and management.
When a member raises a business issue they need to resolve Mick Say and the other 11 salon owners question the member in depth to gain a full understanding of the issue before moving into the next phase of the session which is to provide solutions to the problem. The process is facilitated and led by Mick Say.
Boardrooms meet monthly, so there is consistency and continuity to the training and mentoring provided, they are also great social events to assist in building valuable peer friendships.
As a small business owner myself I find that if I don’t get out amongst my peers at least once per month, I begin to become insular and less productive. My creativity starts to diminish and I need to be refreshed by other business owners in the same position as me.
