The new Pensions ‘auto-enrolment’scheme, came into effect on 1 October 2012.
If you have less than 10 employees your auto enrolment date will be February 2017

This is a phased introduction of the scheme beginning with large companies employing 120,000 or more people. Smaller employers will have to enrol over the next six years.
Salons with less than 50 employees will begin to enrol in 2014, dependant on their employers PAYE reference Number.
Auto-enrolment requires employers to auto-enrol eligible salon staff, and make mandatory employer contributions, into a qualifying workplace pension scheme.
From their staging date, employers must auto-enrol eligible employees into a pension scheme when they reach the income tax threshold but contributions will kick in only from the employee threshold for national insurance contributions.
In order to find Identify your salon staging date, you will need to know:
- How many people are in your PAYE scheme
- Your PAYE reference.
